A source close to the director tells us that Ayan is currently planning a three-part film like The Lord Of The Ring series with Ranbir Kapoor. Naturally, Ranbir is as kicked about this idea as Ayan and producer Karan Johar are. So much so that Ranbir has even been discussing this with all his near and dear ones. Cool.

RANBIR KAPOOR TURNS MESSIAH FOR MANEK INGALE

When Manek Ingale found out that his 10-year old daughter Sunita Ingale has been diagnosed with blood cancer he felt like his life stopped. After taking her to various hospitals for check-ups Sunita is finally admitted in Wadia Hospital, Parel.
Living in Ghatkopar, Mumbai Manek is a simple cement truck driver who earns a monthly wage of Rs.6000-7000 a month. He lives with his wife, two twin daughters and a son and hardly manages to cover up his monthly expenses. At such a time when he first got to know about his daughter’s disease he felt all the more worried. The hospital on their part has approached NGOs and while the chemotherapy is costing Rs.4 lakhs, with the help of NGOs they have managed to raise funds for Rs. 1 lakh.

But there’s always a God! Manek Ingale got a chance to help his daughter via Colors’ new charity show Mission Sapne. In the show with the help of Superstar Ranbir Kapoor Manek is getting a chance to save his daughter’s life.

The show’s format puts the celebrity in the common man’s shoes for a day as he/she do their daily work and earn wages. In order to help Manek, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen selling vada pavs and whatever money he earns in a day, that amount will be multiplied by 100 times and donated to Manek for his daughter’s surgery. Such a noble cause, right!

Ranbir doesn’t enter star mode: Imtiaz Ali

Mumbai: Imtiaz Ali who is all set to kick-start the shoot of Tamasha, (earlier titled Window Seat), is excited about working with the film’s lead actors, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. And since he has worked with both Dippy and RK in the past, (for Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar respectively), Imtiaz tells us he has lots to look forward to. “When I work with Ranbir, I don’t see him enter a star mode at all. He approaches a film purely as an actor. He enjoys what he does in front of the camera and I feel that his entire approach towards acting is unadulterated. We saw that in Rockstar, and the premise of Tamasha encourages that too,” says Imtiaz who has collaborated once again with Sajid Nadiadwala after Highway.

The director who is known for taking long sabbaticals has started off rather early with Tamasha. Reason?  “In fact I always want to make a movie quickly, but sometimes it takes time. You can never have the heart to push a child out before it is ready to be delivered. This is the reason I don’t regret my films arriving after long gaps. The only thing that I think about is that when people watch the film, they should like it.”

Be it Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar, or Highway, Imtiaz has changed gears in terms of presentation. Still there’s something that speaks of a film as “essentially Imtiaz Ali”. What is it that sets him apart? “I just go ahead and make a film by telling a story I want to. Honestly, I am not trying to repeat myself or feel stressed about reinventing myself. I can see the work of other directors and still say that his style is the same or has changed. But it is difficult for me to comment on my own work, because I don’t do anything deliberately. Now if I ask you to do an interview or write an article by being ‘quintessentially you’, can you do that?” he quips.

Ranbir Kapoor happy that Bombay Velvet won't clash with P.K.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor is happy that his upcoming film Bombay Velvet is not releasing with any other movie as he feels that it affects the business of the project.

Earlier, Anurag Kashyap directed Bombay Velvet starring Ranbir in the lead was set to have a box office clash with superstar Aamir Khan's P.K. this Christmas.

But now, Bombay Velvet will release on November 28 and Rajkumar Hirani's P.K. will hit cinema houses on December 19.

"I think it is correct release date as we will get more theatres. We don't want to clash with another film as it affects the business of a film. It is the best film. And we hope audience will like the film," Ranbir said at the wrap up party of Bombay Velvet.

Bombay Velvet, first in a planned trilogy, tells the story of how Bombay became a metropolis. Historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables' forms the basis for the movie.

"Anurag has made this film with lot of hard work and love. It has been a dream of Anurag for nine years. We hope wider audience sees this film as it is an entertaining and engaging film," Ranbir said.

Ranbir and Anushka Sharma, who have been paired for the first time in the film, play lovers whose lives intermingle with the evolution of the city of Bombay, through the 50s to early 70s. The film also stars Karan Johar.

Ranbir Kapoor's BOMBAY VELVET turns googly for Bollywood

Bollywood release equations have gone for a toss, what with Ranbir Kapoor's BOMBAY VELVET all set to arrive on 28th November now. Suddenly, the whole brouhaha around clash with Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan's P.K. has turned out to be an absolute non-issue with Anurag Kashyap bringing his film a distance apart.

No one can say that with absolute confidence on whether Aamir, Vidhu Vinod Chopra or Rajkumar Hirani had any inkling whatsoever w.r.t. change in plans for BOMBAY VELVET. After all, it was just a few days back when P.K. was advanced by a week and slated for arrival on 19th December. It had seemed that this was done to make way for BOMBAY VELVET, more so since Anurag had made his displeasure quite evident around clash of his film with the Aamir starrer. However, with BOMBAY VELVET coming practically a month earlier, there is a new twist in the tale

In fact, there was so much secrecy around the sudden change in plans that no one except those who were closely attached to BOMBAY VELVET was aware of the plans. The announcement was made all of a sudden when in the wrap up party of the film, the cast and crew landed up at the venue while wearing T-shirts with November 28 printed on them.

"It was as cheeky as it gets," a source adds, "With no other film slated for arrival on 28th November, it is as clean as it gets as far as prospects of BOMBAY VELVET are concerned. What is all the more interesting though is to see P.K. enjoying two open weeks with the Christmas slot being wide open now.

Well, that would be the case unless the third player in the game, John Abraham's WELCOME BACK, doesn't decide to grab the 25th December slot for itself. Now, that would be one googly from Firoz Nadiadwala and Anees Bazmee that would only make this match all the more exciting.

Bollywood ex-lovers Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor will lock lips again for Imtiaz Ali.

After locking lips in films like 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' and 'Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani', Bollywod ex-lovers Deepika Padukoneand Ranbir Kapoor are all set to lip lock in Imtiaz Ali's 'Window Seat'.

On one side where Dippi's rumoured beau Ranveer Singh has said no to any intimate scenes with ex-girlfriend Anushka Sharma in Zoya Akhtar's next, Deepika is comfortable in shooting all kind of scenes with ex-lover Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir too is more interested in working with Deepika.

There were reports that the Kapoor lad has asked his close friend director Ayan Mujerji to sign his ex-girl Deepika instead of his girlfriend Katrina Kaif for his next film.

Ayan Mukerji is directing a superhero film in which the 'Barfie' actor is playing the lead and has asked to sign in the 'Ram-Leela' actress for the lead role. But, the filmmaker wants t sign Kat for the role.

The reason that Ranbir gave Ayan is that the audience wants to see him paired with Dips more that Katrina.

But, Ayan, who is a good friend of both Katrina and Ranbir, wants to with them together. Then why is Ranbir insisting him on signing Dippy for the role as on 'Koffee With Karan' the actor rated Kat over Dippy in acting.

Ranbir and Deepika's increasing fondness for each other can be a serious matter for Ranveer and Katrina.

Photographer manhandled on sets of Ranbir Kapoor's Bombay Velvet?

A 'manhandled photographer' and 'Ranbir Kapoor' almost seem like synonymous terms these days. It wasn't long back that the actor snatched a reporter's video camera, leaving a harrassed man in his trail.

And while the recent incident may have nothing to do with the actor himself, he's involved purely by virtue of the fact that it occurred during the shooting of Bombay Velvet that stars the actor himself.

A leading daily claims that a photographer from a city newspaper has filed a police complaint alleging that the bodyguards on duty on the sets of Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet manhandled him while he was on assignment.

The report further claims that onlookers saw the 'assault' take place after the photographer apparently took pictures of Ranbir's new look - something the Bombay Velvet team is keen on keeping under wraps.

The photographer's equipment was reportedly forcibly taken away from him and he was asked to delete those pictures. The man in question was apparently too busy to comment on this, reports the daily, since he was out getting a medical check-up.

Meanwhile on the flipside

The film's producer Madhu Mantena has reportedly claimed otherwise, pointing out that the photographer didn't seek prior permission, and security was alerted only after he started taking pictures. They eventually took him to the police station, adds the report.
But there's more. Outside the police station, the photographer reportedly slapped one of the security staff's members and made a run for it. It was only later, after he feared legal action, that the photographer reportedly returned to make an official complaint with the police hoping the scales would tip in his favour.
Anurag Kashyap, the film's director claims anything other than their account is false.

Is Ranbir Kapoor moving out of parents' house?

Actor Ranbir Kapoor might be moving out of his family residence in Pali Hill, Krishna Raj soon.

If reports are to be believed, the actor wants a big apartment for himself now and he has spoken to number of agents for a house somewhere between Bandra and Juhu.

Apparently, it was Rishi's disapproval of Katrina Kaif visiting their house frequently that urged the actor to move out.

"Since his father doesn't approve of her coming over to their house so regularly, Ranbir thought it would be best for him to find a new place so that everyone's privacy is respected," a source reportedly close to the actor told a leading daily.

Ranbir remained unavailable for comment.

From Amitabh Bachchan to Ranbir Kapoor: Bollywood's sports interest

The association between celebrities and sports kicked off with the Indian Premier League. But even with its seventh edition set to start, cricket is no longer the only sport where stars are making investments. On Sunday (April 13), Sachin Tendulkar was announced as the owner of the Kochi franchise of the upcoming soccer league (India Super League), to be held in September-October.

In a statement, he said, "I will always remain a sportsman at heart who is keen to positively impact the sporting fabric of the nation. The Indian Super League presents a great opportunity to develop a platform for the youngsters..." He also added, "…we will strive to ‘score our goals’ and play a part in developing the game of football across the country 

The retired cricketing legend isn’t alone. His former India teammate, Sourav Ganguly, has invested in the Kolkata franchise. Actors Ranbir Kapoor (Mumbai), Salman Khan (Pune) and John Abraham (Guwahati) are also among the franchise owners. John, of course, also co-owns a team —  Delhi Waveriders — in the Hockey India League. Abhishek Bachchan bought a franchise in the Pro Kabaddi League, while former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar and actor Nagarjuna co-own Mumbai Masters in the Indian Badminton League.

The growing trend of celebs getting attracted to such events seems to have even changed the fate of the sports concerned.

"Worldwide stats reveal that sports leagues have given some of the best returns on investments. Sports stars are investing in other sports to expand their personal brands. And to be a part of another sport, in a bigger role. FOOTBALL HAS NEVER BEEN FAR AWAY – Ranbir Kapoor

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, who will be owning the Mumbai franchise in the inaugural Indian Super League (ISL), said he was looking to translating his passion for the sport into development activity.

Ranbir has tied up with investment banker Bimal Parekh to co-own the Mumbai franchise of the eight-city league that will be played during September-November.

“It is a moment of great pride for me to be a part of the Indian Super League and to represent the vibrant city of Mumbai. Football has never been far away from my daily life since childhood, and now as a partner in the Indian Super League, I am looking forward to translate my passion into contributing to the growth of the sport,” said Ranbir.

Ranbir hoped the grassroots programme developed by ISL promoters IMG-Reliance for the franchise owners will benefit the game.

“I firmly believe in the grassroots and community development program designed by the league organisers IMG Reliance, to popularise the game and that’s one thing which excited me to be part of this dream,” he said.

Ranbir Kapoor's 'Roy' misses release date, to hit the theaters in 2015

Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor, with his ongoing commitment of Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' and Anurag Basu's 'Jagga Jasoos', doesn't have more dates to accomodate more films. While Vikramjit Singh's 'Roy' produced by Bhushan Kumar was announced for June 20, 2014, it looks like its not going to make it for release on that day.

Bhushan Kumar had plans to shoot at the start of this year but because Ranbir was committed to other films, that didn't happen. Also, leading actress of the film, Jacqueline Fernandez was shooting with Salman Khan for 'Kick' and she too wasn't available at the start of the year. She had to also opt out of Shah Rukh's overseas concert.

However, later it was decided to start shooting the film by April and shoot Ranbir Kapoor's portion in June and push the release to September 2014. But the buzz is that it is not likely to release this year.

An industry source revealed, " Kick too has been off-schedule due to which Jacqueline has to allot more dates to the makers. Also for Ranbir, Jagga is a priority and to finish the dubbing of 'Bombay Velvet' which will release this year. For Roy, he might have to travel to South Africa for as long of 15 days for which he doesn't have the time now."

So with these developments, the makers now to plan to find an alternate release date in 2015. As for Arjun Rampal, there aren't any date issues for the makers.

Ranbir Kapoor's new retro look from his upcoming film Bombay Velvet created an online frenzy on Monday. The look from Anurag Kashyap's upcoming film set in the 70s, which has a nattily dressed Ranbir sporting bushy hair with sideburns, was first leaked by an English daily. It soon found its way to different websites.

Since Anurag has been keeping every single update on the film under wraps, the leaking of Ranbir's look has reportedly upset the film-maker. Set in the '70s, the film is about a boy called Johny Balraj who goes on to become a tycoon.
After finishing a long shooting schedule in Sri Lanka, Ranbir is currently shooting some pending portions in Yashraj Studios in Mumbai. To give an authentic retro feel, Anurag has specially got the sets designed and spent a fortune to acquire props to get the 70s' feel.
Ranbir, on his part, has acquired a lean look to fit into the role of a poor street boy. He later on acquired a beefed-up look to slip into the role of a matured businessman. Anushka Sharma, who plays the female protagonist, has also undergone a temporary lip surgery to acquire the retro look for the film. Besides, she will also be seen with a special hairdo and outfits which will enhance her retro look. The film offers an interesting star cast with Ranbir and Anushka in lead roles while Karan Johar plays the primary antagonist. Raveena Tandon, Kay Kay Menon and Siddharth Basu will appear in supporting roles.
Interestingly, the film is likely to release on Christmas and will face tough competition from the Aamir Khan-starrer P.K.

Bigg Boss 8: Rishi Kapoor advices Ranbir not to host the show

Only to add more glare to the already abuzz rumours regarding Ranbir Kapoor hosting the next season of controversial reality show, Bigg Boss, veteran actor and father Rishi Kapoor has finally broken the silence on the news. 

While the speculations were on that it might be heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor replacing superstar Salman Khan as the host of Bigg Boss 8, Rishi Kapoor has cleared his stance expressing his views over it. 

According to dad Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir should not get associated with the show. Ranbir who is yet to make his debut on TV was allegedly approached by the makers of the show to host the season this year, but if reports are to be believed, Rishi Kapoor doesn’t want his son to start his TV career with such a controversial show. 

Moreover, since Ranbir’s last film, ‘Besharam’ didn’t do well at the box office, Rishi Kapoor wants him to concentrate on his Bollywood career as of now. 

Since when Salman stated that he is not keen on continuing hosting the show, the makers are looking for a suitable replacement. Salman Khan is hosting the show from last 4 seasons and garnered a lot raving views from the audience. 

It was only in the last season, Bigg Boss 7, that Salman was deemed biased for some contestants on the show and got a bit of criticism for his behavior.

Lenovo ropes in Ranbir Kapoor as ambassador for smartphones

Chinese tech giant Lenovo has roped in Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor as the brand ambassador for its range of smartphones in India.

As part of the association, Kapoor will endorse Lenovo’s range of smartphones and will feature in various television and online commercials for the brand in India.

The youth icon already endorses Lenovo’s PCs and tablets. “Ranbir Kapoor is a multi-talented and popular actor, who is admired across the nation. We are delighted to be associated with him, as he is an extremely versatile, endearing and stylish performer just like our range of Lenovo smartphones,” Lenovo India Director (Smartphones) Sudhin Mathur said.

This partnership will expand Lenovo’s reach into the consumer space and enhance the preference for its smartphones in India, he added.

Lenovo ranked fifth in the tally after Samsung, Apple, Huawei and LG Electronics in smartphone sales with 4.5 per cent share of the global smartphone market in 2013, according to research firm Gartner.

What is Ranbir Kapoor's character in Bombay Velvet all about?

Ranbir Kapoor has been shooting extensively for Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet opposite Anushka Sharma. Apparently, Ranbir's look in the movie has been kept under wraps. However, Mumbai Mirror managed to get a peek into this little secret of the BV team.

Ranbir, who is playing Johnny Balraj, a street fighter in the film, was spotted during a shoot, in a vest and a tie. Apparently, the Kapoor lad had to beef up to fit into this part. What more, Ranbir's cook and trainer had also accompanied him to his Sri Lanka schedule, to keep him in check.

Anushka Sharma and Raveena Tandon play jazz singers in the movie. Filmmaker Karan Johar will play the primary antagonist in this film which involves jazz clubs, a passionate love story, and how the city of Mumbai became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence.

Ranbir Kapoor approached for Ittefaq remake?

Ranbir Kapoor is said to have been approached by Abhay Chopra, son of filmmaker, Ravi Chopra, who is remaking the 1969 thriller ‘Ittefaq’.

The original, which starred Rajesh Khanna and Nanda proved a box office hit. Chopra is said to be revamping the script to give it a modern touch.

Chopra said, “Yes, it’s one of the films we are developing, but we can’t talk more at this time.” The trade is abuzz that Abhay’s friend Ranbir Kapoor has been approached, but the filmmaker denies it.

Akshay Kumar: Ranbir Kapoor & Ranveer Singh are superstars

Akshay Kumar who has been in the industry for many years and has tasted stardom, says Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are superstars. He was present at the first look and trailer launch of his upcoming production, FUGLY.

When asked why we don't have a single superstar in the new breed of actors, Akshay said, ''I don't think that's true. They are many good young actors today. We have Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. In my mind, they are superstars actually.'' 

The actor also believes newcomers these days do not need the support of big stars.

Anurag Kashyap's daughter Aaliyah is making news with her infatuation for Ranbir Kapoor.

Known to be quite a charmer, ‘Barfi’ actor Ranbir Kapoor has girls of different age groups swooning after him. After ‘Highway’ actress Alia Bhatt revealed her plans to marry the actor on celebrity chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ recently, another Aaliyah is making news about her fondness for the actor, and she is none other than filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s daughter.

The young girl recently had the chance to meet the ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ star on the sets of her father’s next directorial venture ‘Bombay Velvet’.

Aaliyah’s best friend and ‘English Vinglish’ actress Sridevi’s youngest daughter Khushi is also a huge fan of Ranbir Kapoor.

The teenager was also on the sets of ‘Bombay Velvet’ along with Aaliyah and had the opportunity to meet the charmer recently.

Ranbir Kapoor is adorable and I want to marry him: Alia Bhatt

The actress was all praise for Ranbir Kapoor in a promo for an upcoming episode of 'Koffee With Karan'.

Actress Alia Bhatt says she finds Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor adorable and has expressed her desire to marry him.

Alia will be seen in the upcoming episode of filmmaker Karan Johar’s celebrity talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’ and when the host ‘asked what is your vibe like with Ranbir’, the 21-year-old actress was all praises for him.

“I remember the first time I spoke to Ranbir.. you called him up when ‘Rockstar’ released and you said, here talk to Ranbir tell him how much you love him. And I just spoke so much rubbish, I was just talking non-stop. But later I have hung out with Ranbir and I still think he is really adorable and I still want to marry him,” Alia said.

When asked if she has expressed her love for him to Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor and more importantly does Katrina Kaif (his rumoured girlfriend) know about it, Alia said, “Everybody knows my plan. I have gone on record and said it as you said.. and I am very open about it except to Ranbir.”

In the rapid fire round, when Karan asked Alia to name a person from the film industry who she would like to go on a romantic date with, Alia promptly replied Ranbir.

Alia has been often linked with her ‘Student of the Year’ co-stars Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra but she laughs it off saying, “They (Varun and Siddharth) are constantly pulling my leg. O Pari (Parineeti Chopra) is so sexy..O Pari is like this… Pari is like that. But I know that they love me more than her. And its the same with Arjun Kapoor. So that’s fine.”

Arjun was paired opposite Parineeti in his debut film ’Ishaqzaade’. While Parineeti and Siddharth were seen together in the recently released film ‘Hasee toh Phasee’. Also, there have been rumours that Alia and Arjun are dating each other, but the young actress rubbished such reports.

On the worst dressed man in Bollywood, she said, “I think Ranveer (Singh) has been really experimenting, sometimes I think it is really cool but sometimes it is a miss.”

The upcoming and last episode of the chat show this season will also have Parneeti Chopra as a guest. It will be aired this Sunday on Star World.

Ranbir Kapoor walks the ramp for Men for Mijwan

Mijwan Sonnets in Fabric 2014 brought together leading men from the film fraternity to support empowerment of women. Manish Malhotra presented ‘Men for Mijwan’, a fashion show in support of the Mijwan Welfare Society. Some of the biggest stars took to the ramp, on April 1st at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, for the NGO founded by Late Kaifi Azmi and headed by Shabana Azmi and Namrata Goyal.

Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra walked the ramp to support this great cause.
