I Am A Fitness Junkie: Neetu Singh, Ranbir Kapoor's MOM
If you're bored with your tame gym routine or much-practised power yoga, here is an import from the west that can really pump things up. Coming highly recommended from the well-toned and re-energized 50-year-old Neetu Kapoor, is TRX, an exercise form used to train US army cadets.
In-house work out
Not only is it extremely strenuous, you also require a proper guided approach to this suspension training exercise. On the plus side, you no longer need to drag your feet to the gym. Goodbye to treadmill, bench press and dumbbells. And there are no diet compulsions. This apparatus, a lightweight suspension trainer, can be easily installed in any corner of your house where you would find ample floor space to work out on.
Neetu Kapoor says, "TRX concentrates on body-balance, flexibility, agility and power. I needed to strengthen myself.
Besides, I realised that I was not losing the few extra kilos, which you tend to put on due to hormonal changes. Crunches, dips, nothing seemed to help. And then I read about TRX. Fortunately, I met the right trainer, Aditya Chaudhary, who is the master of this game."
Watch those abs
The exercise brings in a new concept in training. The key lies in suspension mode and the angle of training. It starts with you standing erect along the length of the pole. The success of the exercise depends on to what degree you can control your body in suspension thereby strengthening your whole body core and centre.
Divulging the benefits of TRX, Neetu says, "You stop hunching. You walk straighter, your gait changes, body language becomes more confident, metabolism improves. It also helps you looking lean and your back becomes stronger.
Since you are in suspension mode you stomach goes in automatically, which often does not happen when you are doing the normal exercises in the gym as you often tend to forget to pull your stomach in."
All in a slant
Since it throws every muscle of the body into action it is extremely strenuous and should be practiced in short sets of 30 seconds each, shifting weight from one leg to another. An average duration of an hour suffices. The ultimate goal being, the more you can slant on the TRX, the fitter you are. "Keeping my body weight into account, Aditya exactly knew how slowly or fast he should go with me. I started in almost standing position but now my bends have improved drastically. Currently I'm at about five days a week with an hour and a half at each session. It's exhausting but it feels great," says Neetu.

Now Aamir Khan Takes Dig at Ranbir Kapoor's Bombay Velvet, Is it an Open War?
Bollywood will stand divided come this December when two of the most awaited films in recent times - Aamir Khan's "PK" and Ranbir Kapoor's "Bombay Velvet" - release on the same date. The clash of the two big projects has been the talk of the town, ever since Khan announced "PK" release date as 25 December, earlier this year. Anurag Kashyap had previously revealed that "Bombay Velvet" would release on the same date. The news was certainly upsetting for Kashyap as he lashed out at Khan and "PK" director Rajkumar Hirani.Kashyap, who was clearly miffed with same date release of "PK", told Mumbai Mirror: "All it would have taken is a phone call. At that point, they said there were no such plans... It hurts because I respect Raju (Hirani) as a filmmaker and as a person. Apart from being a colleague, he is also a friend."
After Kashyap vented out his ire towards the "PK" team publicly, now the perfectionist Khan has followed it up with a jibe towards the "Bombay Velvet" makers.
The 48-year-old actor is understood to have caught up Madhu Mantena, one of "Bombay Velvet" makers, recently and greeted him with a sardonic remark. "Kya bhai, aaj kal toh tum bade star ban gaye ho. Aur hum to purane actor hokar rahe gaye (You have become such a big star these days and we are reduced to old actors now), the tabloid quoted Khan as saying.
Khan's comment, made at Kangana Ranaut's birthday bash, was witnessed by an onlooker, who claims it made Mantena uncomfortable.
It should be noted that the superstar had previously worked with Mantena in the blockbuster movie "Ghajini" (2008) and has shared a pleasant rapport till now. But given the present scenario, it is obvious that the "Bombay Velvet" and "PK" clan are currently at war, and the tensions are likely to escalate as the release date of the films inches near.

Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar to walk the ramp for Shabani Azmi's NGO
Mumbai: Years after Kaifi Azmi wrote the moving poem 'Aurat', envisioning women empowerment, his daughter, veteran actress and social activist Shabana Azmi, is bringing together Bollywood's iconic male actors like Amitabh Bachchan to walk for her NGO Mijwan Welfare Society (MWS) to support the cause.
The idea, she says, is to convey that "the man cares for the woman".
Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra - all belonging to different generations of the Hindi film industry - will walk the ramp to show their support towards emancipation of the female gender.
The show - Men For Mijwan by Manish Malhotra, is in support of MWS, an NGO founded by Shabana's father, a well-known poet.
"What is unique about the event is that iconic male stars from different generations, whom we are referring to as 'men of style' will be walking the ramp for the empowerment of women in rural India
"'The man cares for the woman' is the message we wish to convey. This is an idea whose time has come. There is much greater awareness today that for a healthy society, male participation in women's empowerment is the need of the hour," Shabana told IANS.
The aim of the NGO is to empower rural India with a focus on the girlchild and women, and it is now jointly run by Shabana and her godchild Namrata Goyal.
The fundraising fashion show will showcase creations made using chikankari art by Mijwan girls. It will be held April 1st
"It is very heartening that my colleagues in the film industry whom we approached, were all aware of Mijwan and warmed up to the idea and I am truly indebted to them for their support," Shabana said.
"In fact, they have been forward in spite of gruelling film schedules. Some will come straight from their shooting, while some need to go back for a night shift, but they are accommodating us because the issue is so important," she added.
Citing an excerpt from her father's poem 'Aurat', she said that he wrote:
Qadr ab tak teri tareeq ney jaani hi nahi
Tujhmein sholay bhi hain bas ashkfishani hi nahi
Tu haqeeqat bhi hai dilchasp kahani hi nahi
Teri hasti bhi ik cheez jawani hi nahi
Apni tareeq ka unvaan badalna hai tujhe
Uth meri jaan mere saath hi chalna hai tujhe.
Roughly translated:
"Not only tears, there are glowing embers within you
Not fables alone, there is a reality to you
Not only your youth, your existence has value too.
You have to change the course of your history
Rise my love! You have to come walk with me."
Women empowerment is a subject very close to Shabana's heart, and she is happy with the way Mijwan has grown from strength to strength over the years.
"When we started, we had one embroidery centre in Mijwan. Today we have 10 centres across Uttar Pradesh and we're still counting. The girls and women now have a livelihood because of which their status within the family has changed," Shabana said.
"They are saying no to marriage before the age of 18, have opened bank accounts in their names and they are being looked upon as assets, not liabilities. It's a huge mindset transformation in a patriarchal society," she added.

Varun Dhawan and Ranbir Kapoor at loggerheads over Katrina Kaif’s Hindi!!!!
Varun Dhawan seems to be in crazy limelight thanks to his on- and off-screen antics. Whether it is his fans tearing off his shirt in excitement during one of the promotional activities of Main Tera Hero or him disclosing how he shares dirty jokes with his co-star Nargis Fakhri! All this is cool but taking on the power couple Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif may backfire, Varun!.
Since the trailer of Main Tera Hero has hit the market, audiences cannot help but notice the more than usual potshots the movie has been taking on fellow industrywallahs. Varun spoofed Ranbir Kapoor’s Barfi!act to woo his leading ladies and it is also said that there is a parody choreographed by the actor himself on Ranbir’s popular track Badtameez Dil from his 2013 release Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
And with the latest dialogue promo of Main Tera Hero, it looks like it is Ranbir’s beloved Katrina Kaif’s turn to be mocked at. It has Anupam Kher telling Varun: “Kutte ki pooch and Katrina ki Hindi kabhi seedhi nahi ho sakti“! To this comes the witty reply from Varun: “Aaj kal uski Hindi theek ho gayi hai“. Ranbir might be okay with his spoofs but an insulting remark over his girlfriend might not be tolerated!
Friends of Ranbir have strongly communicated of the actor’s displeasure at the fun poked by Varun at much senior actors of the industry.
But Ranbir himself has downplayed all these rumours and has wished Varun success for his forthcoming film. We too hope it fares well at the box office, for if it sinks, he would be a lost case at both ends. Main Tera Hero is slated to release on 4th April, 2014. It stars Varun Dhawan, Illeana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri in leading roles.
(Disclaimer: There are no fight reports yet between Varun Dhawan and Ranbir Kapoor but just a little prediction would do no harm!)

Is Ranbir Kapoor playing Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani's biopic on the actor?
Mumbai: The story of Sanjay Dutt's life is likely to go on the screen and, if all goes well, director Rajkumar Hirani and actor Ranbir Kapoor would come together for the first time to tell the highs and lows in the 54-year-old star's life.
The decision was reportedly taken around a week before Sanjay returned to Pune's Yerawada Jail after his parole period ran out.
"Maanyata bhabhi (Sanjay's wife) was keen on a film being made on her husband's life for Sanjay Dutt Productions. But the couple wanted only Rajkumar Hirani to direct the film as Sanju sir has created magic with Raju (Hirani) in 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S." and 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai'," said a source.

Hirani, it seems, was busy with "Peekay" and not willing to commit to any other project until he was done with it. Also, the material and the facts regarding Sanjay's life were too vast and controversial. But both Maanyata and Sanjay were adamant.
"Finally, he (Hirani) has said yes to a film on the life of Sanjay Dutt. He will start researching and putting the project together after he completes the post-production of 'Peekay'," the source said.
"Both Maanyata bhabhi and Sanju sir wanted Ranbir to play Sanjay Dutt in Hirani's film. Ranbir is a diehard Sanjay Dutt fan. And he has readily agreed to play the role," the source said.
A convict in the March 1993 Mumbai blasts, Sanjay is currently serving the remainder of his five-year imprisonment at Yerawada since May 2013.
